Play Ball!

We had a great time yesterday when we went on a field trip with Peter's school group. They were a group of 4 year-olds going to the Bee's Baseball Stadium. It was awesome! We were able to go onto the field, up to the VIP Private Rooms, and the children were taken down to the dugout where the ball players are during a game. Jenny took lots of pictures and was sweet enough to send me some to post here.

 This is when we first got there and were waiting for the tour guide to arrive.

Here we are out on the dirt area of the field. We were told not to go on the grass. They have three full-time people and 12 part time people that work every day to keep the field nice and green.

Grandpa is going down the walk to get over to the elevators so we can go up to the top floor where the announcers and the sky boxes are located.

Here we are up on the top floor in a special area with cooking facilities and tables and chairs so people who want to have a party and watch the game can gather and enjoy! Fun!

At the end of the tour each of the little people received a bouncy baseball from the tour guide. Here is Peter showing it to grandpa. The children all loved that!

The tour is over and back to our cars! We had such a fun time! Thank you Jenny for inviting us to come along!

Here is one funny thing the Jenny told me. She said one of teachers commented that Jenny must be wrong when she told them that Grandpa played Triple A ball about 70 years ago. The teacher said he couldn't have because he looks like he is only about 70 years old now! She was surprised when Jenny told her Grandpa will be 92 years-old next week on his birthday! So funny!

Ruby Laurel Kennedy's Blessing

On April 10th we were in Rexburg, Idaho to be part of Ruby Laurel's Blessing. It was a wonderful blessing given by Jonny with so many of the Priesthood holders in the circle. Some of the men in the circle had travels from Scotland to be there. What a choice group of men in that circle!

After the blessing and the other meetings that day, Susie provided a luscious soup and salad meal that was to die for! There were some really tasty soups and it was so sad that there was no way to try all of them! One was a squash soup that was sooooo good! I only got a taste of it because by the time I tried it I had already had Tortilla soup and Potato soup and one other. Needless to say, a person can only eat so much! Susie made a gorgeous fruit salad that I wish I had taken a picture of because it was not only delicious but it was so beautiful!

Ruby is such a sweet and beautiful baby and I can't wait to see her grow into the wonderful young woman I know she will become. An added bonus was seeing three other new great grandchildren that I had not previously seen, Jace, Caleb, and Capri! They are all such terrific little people and I adore each of them. Their personalities are so different so it is like an adventure to become acquainted with them, I delighted in each of the other children, too! They had all grown so much! Before you know it they will be adults! Not too soon I hope! It was fun to see lots of my grandchildren and catch up on what is going on in their lives, I could have enjoyed a longer trip though!

All-in-all, it was a wonderful trip and I enjoyed every minute of it! Susie and I had a chance to visit several times and Susie also fixed us fish with a coating that one of the men from Scotland made. Delicious! It was fun visiting with the people from Scotland, too.

Did I mention that Rick had built a ramp into his house so that Great Grandpa could come in? What a guy! He is also excited to help build a ramp and a work shop area for Fred if and when we get into the house we are trying to buy.

Backyard Easter Egg Hunt

 

What a beautiful and fun day we had last Saturday watching my Nunes grandchildren hunting for Easter Eggs! Lynn devised this plan when she started having grandchildren and it has grown with her. This is the first year I have been here to witness how fun it is. Jenny wrote a great description of it for our family website and I am borrowing her words. (See below!)

Here is how it works!

"Each grandchild had a main, bold color.   Maeli's eggs are all those colors plus little patterns. It means all the kids get to find their eggs, and no one swoops in and gets them all.   But it is also a super cute demonstration of cooperation. When the eggs get less obvious to find and the kids stumble on an egg belonging to one of the others, they will start yelling to each other to come look and, although they know not to touch each others eggs, they will help direct each others search.   It was cute this year.   In the past it has been the three older kids who helped the three younger kids, but this year, six of them were all old enough to contribute.   I remember seeing Kambria get so excited when she found a green egg and started shrieking for Ammon, "Ammon - green!!!!   Ammon!   Ammon!!"   It is almost more fun to find an egg for your cousin/sibling than to find one for yourself! I love it.   My mom came up with this approach several years ago and I think it is awesome." Jenny
